Why this Book?
Little did I know when I began my career as a veterinarian, many year sago that, besides being a gratifying endeavor, it would also prove to be so entertaining!
By assisting so many pets and their owners, I have collected a trove of stories that relate to the special bond we people share with our animal friends, and importantly, how they relate to the human condition. It is my hope that in the pages that follow to share inspiring, life-affirming, and uplifting tales that could be "just what the (animal) doctor ordered" in these challenging times.
In my days in practice I’ve answered the call of pet owners of all stripes; from celebrities and Wall Street titans with posh and pampered pets, to homeless people with stray castaways.
I will introduce you to some of the furriest, cuddliest, and sometimes, most ferocious, denizens of New York, and to their fascinating human families.
Whether set in a Manhattan high rise, Brooklyn brownstone, downtown hotel, uptown tenement, a Queens junkyard, and even way yonder, each story will feature some very, very interesting characters of both the four and two-legged variety.
Dear reader, my goal is to share lively and compassionate tales that spring from the heart of a big-city housecall practitioner and at the same time provide glimpses of how the modality of acupuncture could provide improved health-care outcomes to the very many beloved pets that live amongst us.
I hope this literary endeavor brings you and your most beloved pet (sitting in your lap, or curled up at your feet), many hours of warm-hearted togetherness.
Wishing you a Cold, Wet Nose and a Wish on a Whisker!
Dr. Jeff
